Those clothes are too "matchy-matchy"
Haha so someone close to me was looking at some clothes and said “those clothes are too matchy-matchy.” She meant they were a little too metrosexual. I just so love language and little expressions that sort of resonate and so capture exactly what needs to be said. Anyway, these are the shorts that earned that phrase:

I so love related posts. It reminded me of things I’ve posted and forgotten. It’s a really cool way to click around my tumblrs. I ended up entertaining myself. Such a big thank you to the creators. If you want to add it to your tumblr, here is the script. You’ll note I updated the jquery library to 1.5.0 - this got rid of a few incompatibilities with some other things on my site...

I added and modified this recent posts widget to...
I found this which is a cool bit of code that shows the most recent posts on my blog. At first it only worked for text posts and link posts. I modified it to add in videos and photos and quotes, but the formatting was all wrong, and some posts were ridiculously wrong. I modified the code to get around those problems, as best I could. I converted the HTML from the tumblr API into text so that no...

Added these tag clouds to my tumblrs. →
If you use them, I recommend calling jquery 1.5.0 instead of 1.4.2, because it can cause problems if you have multiple versions of jquery. So just put this in your description or anywhere: <script src=”http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.5.0/jquery.min.js”></script> <script type=”text/javascript”...

a person’s signature can change depending on how they think about themselves, with people sometimes unconsciously increasing the size of their signature when their self-esteem is raised or when they want to convey their uniqueness or social status. (Zweigenhaft 1977).

Wow fitness models don’t make much money for magazine covers.  Glamorous as it seems, even gracing covers for top magazines can only give you earnings of about $150 – $300 per lay out according to Kim Lyons, a cover model for Muscle & Fitness Hers. Models accept such low pay in hopes of getting recognized by clients.  Maybe they make it back in advertising/endorsements.

grammar : what vs. which
“What” is broader than “which”. “Which” … usually means “Which one”. “What” more often means “What kind of”.Here are some examples: “Which newspapers do you read?” “I read the Houston Chronicle and the Wall Street Journal.” (But not the New York Times, The Guardian, etc.) “What...

Forget Harvard and a 4-Year Degree, You Can Make More as a Plumber in the Long Run, Says Prof. Kotlikoff Ha, this guy also says plumbers make more than GPs - doctors who are general practioners over the long run… They work more years, take on less educational debt, and pay lower taxes. Ha, the ironies of our country!

For your brain, romantic rejection is the same... →
When your sweetheart dumps you, there’s a reason why it hurts so much. It turns out your brain registers the psychological hell in exactly the same way it registers physical pain. A group of scientists used fMRI scans to study the brains of people dealing with being rejected, and compared them to the brains of people experiencing physical pain. They found that the exact same regions of the...

I finally understand what each phase of sleep...
Ha, just read an article on sleep that opened me a bit.  I didn’t realize the sleep controversy was more or less over: Memory consolidation is now well known as the prime reason why we actually need sleep. Metabolism only drops 5-10% when we are sleeping, so it’s kind of tough to argue that we’re conserving a lot of energy by sleeping.(Wikipedia cites an additional source on...

Cell Phone Radiation Could Hurt you in a few...
So first, let’s go over the conventional argument that cell phones are safe… So the radiation emitted by cell phones does not have enough energy to ionize atoms because its frequency is too low. If the frequency of electromagnetic radiation is high enough, photons will have enough energy to ionize atoms … This becomes possible at a frequency just above that of visible light -...

Iodine from seaweed, not pills?
Yeah, it’s totally true that eating seaweed is probably a gentler way to protect yourself from radiation than taking iodine pills :) Of course this info is relevant to the Japanese and not the United States, as there is not really a radioactive food concern here. Anyway…people are already buying seaweed in California…  Anyway, iodine pills have side effects which may include: ...
